The Last Patient of Ward 9
Nurse Amelia worked the night shift at an old hospital.
Ward 9 had been closed for years, but every night at exactly 3:20 a.m., the call bell inside it rang.
Nobody knew why.
One night, Amelia decided to investigate.
She unlocked the ward.
Every bed was empty.
Except one.
An elderly man was lying beneath the blankets.
“Are you alright?” Amelia asked.
The man slowly opened his eyes.
“Finally.”
“Finally what?”
“You came back.”
Amelia checked his medical chart.
The patient's name was Amelia Carter.
Her own name.
The admission date was tomorrow.
Amelia dropped the chart.
The old man smiled.
“Don't worry.”
He pointed toward the empty beds.
“You won't be alone.”
