The Last Room

Emily was checking into a remote hotel when the receptionist handed her a key labeled Room 19. She asked where it was. The receptionist pointed toward the end of the hallway. “But don't knock on the door.” Emily smiled, thinking it was a strange joke. At 1:20 a.m., someone knocked on her door. Three slow knocks. She ignored them. A minute later, another three knocks. Then a woman's voice whispered, “Emily, please let me in.” Emily looked through the peephole. The hallway was empty. She called reception. Nobody answered. Then her phone received a text from an unknown number: “Whatever you do, don't open Room 19.” Emily stared at the message. She slowly looked at the number on her key. 19. Another message arrived. “I'm sorry. We gave you the wrong room.” Emily's blood ran cold. “Your room is supposed to be 20.” Then someone knocked from inside her wardrobe.
