THE WOMAN IN THE EMPTY PARKING LOT

I was leaving work around 11:45 p.m. when I noticed a woman standing alone at the far end of the parking lot. She was wearing a long black coat and staring directly at my car. I thought she needed help, so I slowly drove closer and lowered my window. Before I could say anything, she whispered, “Don't turn around.” I froze. Then she pointed toward the back seat of my car. I looked in the mirror, but I couldn't see anything. When I turned around, the back seat was empty. I looked back at the woman, but she was gone. I drove home and checked my car carefully. Nothing. The next morning, I found a small piece of paper underneath my driver's seat. There were only four words written on it: “She was sitting there.”
