The Man in Apartment 14

The Man in Apartment 14

Daniel had been living in an old London apartment building for almost six months when he started noticing the man in the black coat.

Every night at exactly 3:00 a.m., the man would stand outside Daniel’s door.

He never knocked.

He simply stood there, staring at the door.

Daniel assumed he was a neighbour until one night he finally opened the door.

The hallway was empty.

The next morning, Daniel asked the woman living across from him about the man.

Her expression immediately changed.

“There’s no one living on this floor except you and me.”

Daniel frowned.

“What about Apartment 14?”

She stared at him.

“There is no Apartment 14.”

That night, Daniel stayed awake.

At exactly 3:00 a.m., he heard footsteps outside.

He looked through the peephole.

The man in the black coat was standing there.

But this time, he was facing the door.

And smiling.

Daniel stepped away from the peephole.

Then the man's voice came through the door.

“You finally found out where I live.”
