The Woman in the Security Footage

James worked the night shift at a private office building. At 3:40 a.m., he noticed a woman standing motionless beside the elevator on the security monitor. She wore an old-fashioned black coat and stared directly at the camera. James checked the hallway. Nobody was there. He assumed it was a camera glitch until the elevator doors opened on their own. The woman stepped inside. James switched to the elevator camera. She was standing in the corner, facing the wall. Then the elevator began descending. Floor 4. Floor 3. Floor 2. Floor 1. Basement. James watched the doors open. The elevator was empty. Confused, he checked the footage again. The woman was still inside—but now she was standing directly behind him. James slowly turned around. Nobody was there. Then the security monitor went black. A second later, someone whispered from behind his chair, “You weren't supposed to see me.”
