THE MAN WHO KNEW HER NAME
Laura was driving home at 1:40 a.m. when she stopped at a petrol station. Only one other person was there—a man sitting in the corner, watching her.
As Laura paid, the man suddenly said, “Laura, you shouldn't go home tonight.”
She froze.
She had never seen him before.
“How do you know my name?”
The man smiled.
“I've been trying to warn you for three nights.”
Laura left immediately.
When she reached home, everything looked normal. She locked the doors, checked the windows and went upstairs.
Then her phone buzzed.
A message from an unknown number:
“You should have listened to him.”
Laura's blood ran cold.
Another message arrived.
“He's not the one you need to be afraid of.”
Then someone knocked on her bedroom door.
Three slow knocks.
Laura stared at the handle.
Her phone buzzed again.
“Don't open it.”
She whispered, “Who are you?”
The reply came instantly.
“I'm the man standing behind you.”
