The Wedding Ring

After twelve years of marriage, James noticed something strange about his wife's wedding ring.

There was a name engraved inside it.

“Daniel.”

James had never heard of Daniel.

When he asked his wife, Amelia, she became completely silent.

Then she said,

“I don't know anyone called Daniel.”

That night, James secretly searched through their old wedding photographs.

In every photograph, Amelia was wearing the ring.

But James wasn't.

Instead, there was another man standing beside her.

The photographs had been taken twelve years ago.

James showed Amelia.

She stared at the pictures for several seconds.

Then she whispered,

“You weren't supposed to remember him.”

James looked at her.

“Who is Daniel?”

She slowly turned toward the bedroom mirror.

“The husband you replaced.”
