The Monk Who Never Left the Palace | A Dark Historical Horror Story

In 1742, a royal palace in the mountains was abandoned after several monks disappeared without a trace. Decades later, soldiers were sent inside to recover the palace's gold artifacts, but they reported hearing a bell ringing every night from a sealed underground chapel. When they finally broke the door open, they found hundreds of candles still burning—and a monk sitting motionless in front of the altar. He slowly turned toward them and whispered, “You were not supposed to open the door.” The soldiers fled before sunrise. When they returned with reinforcements, the chapel was empty... except for fresh footprints leading from the altar toward the soldiers' camp outside.
