In 1742, a royal palace in the mountains was abandoned after several monks disappeared without a trace. Decades later, soldiers were sent inside to recover the palace's gold artifacts, but they reported hearing a bell ringing every night from a sealed underground chapel. When they finally broke the door open, they found hundreds of candles still burning—and a monk sitting motionless in front of the altar.
