My friend's father died unexpectedly, and I attended the funeral with several other people from work. During the service, I noticed a man sitting alone in the back row. He wasn't crying, praying, or speaking to anyone. He was just watching the family. After the funeral, I asked my friend who he was. He looked confused and said, “What man?” I described him, and my friend immediately asked me to leave with him. In the parking lot, he told me his father had received several anonymous letters during the month before his death. Every letter contained the same sentence: “You know what you did.” Before we left, we checked the funeral photographs online. The man was visible in every picture. But nobody remembered seeing him arrive.
